Trinity College London

The English certificate from Trinity College London, of which ACTIVA is a registered exam centre, is an internationally recognised progressive system of oral exams with the purpose of assessing English language proficiency and knowledge.

At ACTIVA, we let our students take the exams of Trinity College London because it allows us to take a more practical approach in teaching English, in such a way that our students learn to get on in real-life situations.

Who is it for?

All students aged 7 and above (Second Grade in Primary School).

What are the exams like?

The exam consists in a one-to-one interview with a native English examiner, fully trained and qualified by Trinity College London.

How many grades are there?

There are twelve Grades distributed in four Stages: Initial, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced.

When and where are exams held?

ACTIVA, as a registered exam centre of Trinity College London, searches for the most convenient dates for each centre, normally at the end of May or the beginning of June. The exams are held at the centre itself if there are enough registrations. Otherwise, the exams are held at another Centre in the same city.

Cambridge English

It is a system of exams, offered by the University of Cambridge, that assesses English proficiency of non-native speakers (ESOL, English for Speakers of Other Languages). These exams follow the guidelines set out by the Common European Framework of Reference of the Council of Europe, which ensures international and objective standardisation of the levels of education, as well as the assessment of results.
At ACTIVA, we prepare the students in the the four skills of English as a second language, in order to pass these exams and thereby obtain internationally recognised certificates validating their qualifications.

Who is it for?

All students aged 7 and above (Second Grade in Primary School)..

What are the exams like?

The exams assess proficiency of the students in the four basic skills in learning English: reading comprehension, oral comprehension, written expression and oral expression.

When and where are exams held?

Testing is held on the dates and venues designated by Cambridge; while it is also possible for these to be held at the School in case there is a sufficient number of students.

What levels are there?

For students aged between 7 and 12, Cambridge offers the YLE (Young Learners English) exams.
These tests, tailored to the needs of the children, are comprised of three levels: Starters, Movers, Flyers
.

For students aged 12 and above, the basic levels of Cambridge ESOL are the following: Key English Test (KET), Preliminary English Test (PET), First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).
